Neurofeedback

What is it?

The Low Energy Neurofeedback System (LENS), is an effective form of biofeedback that has the capacity to treat numerous symptoms and deficits including, but not limited to:

  • ADD/ADHD
  • Autism spectrum
  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Traumatic brain injuries (TBI)
  • Seizure disorders
  • Insomnia or other sleep disorders
  • Headaches
  • PTSD and other trauma reactions
  • Concussion symptoms
  • Memory loss or cognitive decline

Over 85% of people who have used the LENS have benefited significantly from it.  Results can be seen quickly, often beginning within the first session, and are lasting.

How it works

The patient sits passively, while the brain receives direct feedback information through sensors placed on their head or body. This feedback information is in the form of electromagnetic brainwaves, recorded from the patient’s nervous system using electroencephalography (EEG) technology, then sent directly back to the brain. The individualized feedback is processed by the brain, which is able to recognize and reorganize any maladaptive brain wave patterns. The result is passively learning more adaptive, organized, and efficient patterns.

This technology takes advantage of neuroplasticity, or the brain’s ability to reorganize and form new synaptic connections – a natural learning response. The brain is essentially able to see its own dysfunctional patterns, causing it to naturally learn, adapt, and grow into something better.

What to expect

The LENS does not require any focused attention, and you do not need to do anything specific during the session.  This makes the LENS an excellent option for all individuals, including those who are unable to attend for lengthy periods of time and/or who are unable to understand instructions.

The active treatment with electromagnetic feedback lasts between a few seconds and a few minutes. The feedback is painless and safe. Most people do not even notice the active stimulation, as the energy used for feedback is billions of times lower than that emitted from cell phones.

Initial results are typically seen in 1-4 sessions. For lasting results, clients typically need an average number of 11 sessions total.

How is this different from traditional neurofeedback?

Traditional neurofeedback requires conscious attention and training for 45-60 minute sessions. While traditional neurofeedback is also very effective, results are typically attained over 40 or more sessions and patients need to be able to focus and practice daily.

Patients across the lifespan, from young children to older adults, have benefited from the LENS. You do not need to be sick to benefit from the LENS. Benefits include, but are not limited to:

  • Better sleep
  • Higher motivation
  • Enhanced energy
  • Reduction in pain
  • Better organizational skills
  • Less social barriers
  • Stabilize mood
  • Higher efficiency at work/school

Neurofeedback gives you the ability to use the power of your mind to improve your health and physical performance.

Is is covered by insurance?
